Did you catch my radio show at 9 GMT today?   If not, you can listen again to Mary Waring, UK mortgage adviser, buy-to-let landlady and property expert, IFA in training.   Is there no end to this woman’s talents? Listen to Mary as she describes why corporate life wasn’t for her and what caused her to finally quit and start up on her own, how she ran the London Marathon and how that enables her to remember she can get out of her comfort zone and do anything. Mad About Bubbly, Mad About Champagne

Today, the guest on my Radio Show was Yvonne Halling, beloved client and co-conspirator in the Entrepreneurial game of life.   It only takes 15 minutes to be inspired by Today’s Entrepreneur. You can listen here to Yvonne as she talks about why this business at this time, and why she and champagne expert husband Jiles are moving back to their home in France, re-opening their B & B and taking members of their Grand Crew (geddit?) club to meet the producers, tastings and more. The Entrepreneurial Curse of Perfectionism

The joy of being a Business Mentor is that lots of my business clients remind me in their daily sessions about the stuff I know about but either havent implemented myself yet, or have started but not finished, or started, got great results and stopped doing.   Doh, that last one really hurts to even say. My old Grandpa used to say “don’t do what I do, do as I tell you” but us coaches are obsessed with authenticity and so its great to get these nudges and reminders to do stuff or reinstate others stuff, especially that which I have [...]

Why Ricky Gervais is Wrong About Twitter

Did you read that Ricky Gervais has quit Twitter?   Lots of funny jokes about whether or not this makes him a Twitter Quitter etc. I don’t want or expect Ricky to change his mind but I want my clients and readers to understand why he is both right and wrong in making this decision. Here’s how he’s right.   He says his bosses at the Golden Globes wanted him to make a running commentary via Twitter as he hosts the awards ceremony on 17th January. He’s then quoted as saying “I suppose it was meant to be a bit of a [...]

The Gift in the Snow

I don’t know about you but I’m sick of it now, the snow that is.   It was alright a week ago, deep and crisp and even.   But its just getting on my wick now and getting in my way, the way of my progress.   Its making everything harder. My sympathies are with you if you live in a part of the UK or the world where you are weeks into the snow, not just one week as I am. Snow’s always a bit of a novelty when you are young, or if you’ve not seen it for a while – [...]

The Opportunity Within The Crisis

This is my second recession; the first one hit me hard when I had to choose between letting my two properties be repossessed –v- cashflowing my accountancy business in 1992.   The ongoing repercussions of that were, to a greater extent, still with me more than a decade later.   And to a lesser extent they still are since I still carry some old bad debt.  So I am somewhat seasoned in the bottom of cycles, as well as the rise and fall and the top.   Does this make me more resilient than some?   Perhaps.   Or maybe it just makes me older!   I’ve [...]
