Helping A New Coach to Market Herself

Liberty

Yesterday I spoke to a prospective new client in New York, which also just happens to be one of my very favourite places in the world.   My colleague is anticipating the arrival of her coaching certificate at the end of January and is already beginning to think about marketing herself. She admitted that there was very little advice given to her during her course about how to create a business around her new-found coaching skills. This lady found me via another fabulous client who referred her onto me in answer to the question “you market yourself very well online, who [...]

The Joys of Self-Employment

Self Employed

There’s a lot of talk right now about how self-employed people and Entrepreneurs are the future. With so many without jobs all over the world, a number of people – perhaps larger than in my lifetime – are faced with no choice but to roll up their sleeves and employ themselves. What does it take? What are the pitfalls? What do you fear? I’d love to know. I’ve been self-employed now since July 1977 and I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be right at the beginning of this journey. I can share that it is often worrying but that there [...]

Clarity and Precision Speed Manifestation

The World

My January is beginning to hum along quite nicely now. How’s yours? It’s the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs and the The Oscars and these award ceremonies are exciting and glamorous. They also allow me to feel relief that my own work isn’t rewarded – or my hopes for a win dashed – quite so publicly. Still, it’s good training isn’t it, just to watch the disappointed display grace? It’s good to be nominated, it’s great to win. I did have a couple of wins last week myself and a couple of pieces of fabulous feedback, which I’m deciding are quite like my own [...]

Is Your Mission Really Impossible?

Tom Cruise

My nephew and I went to see Mission: Impossible last night for his birthday treat. We loved it. I was excited to be two beats ahead of Tom Cruise at some points in the plot, but he was way ahead of me all the way through when it came to hard running, stunts, abseiling, being blown up, beating and being beaten up, jumping out of the tallest building in the world, escaping from prisons, saving us all from nuclear explosion, etc. I continue to learn so much from popular culture. Did you see Tom Cruise on Jonathan Ross during December? He [...]

“Most Entrepreneurs Are Driven By Self-Doubt”: Sir Tom Hunter

Sir Tom Hunter

Dragon Peter Jones made an excellent attempt last night, where many have gone before, to discover whether the personality traits of one entrepreneur have anything in common with another. Mr Jones was comparing and contrasting Michelle Mone of MJM International, the makers of Ultimo bras, with Richard Reed one of the three founders of Innocent Drinks.   I like Peter Jones, he’s easy on the eye and I much prefer the programmes where we get to see him being chauffeur driven and flying in private jets to the tedious Dragons’ Den itself which, to my mind, does not showcase entrepreneurs very [...]

Hooray! I Can Walk On The Grass – At Last

alnwick-duchess_2018759c

I was born a rebel. One of the strongest urges I feel all the time is to rebel. If I wanted to overcome that urge, and I don’t very often, I would have to either speak very sternly to myself, get angry, or just surrender to being normal like everyone else. Three not very nice choices. So usually I just rebel. Gentle Reader, I wish I could tell you I was proud of this. But I’m not; it’s just how it is round here. One of the expressions I use to explain how it feels to be me in this [...]
