Early Morning Ideasfest with Susan and SBBM

I’d travel quite a long way for a good idea, me. And often ideas get a bad rap in my world because the last thing us creative entrepreneurs need is another good idea before we have fully explored and implemented the last one. Luckily for me, I no longer have to travel for them, my SBBM clients bring them to me in our Facebook Group and in our Webex calls. And last week was a corker for great ideas, a veritable ideasfest I am grateful to my client Susan who brought me at least two good ones because they will be […]

12 Gifts of Support for my Small Biz Clients

As it’s December, thoughts often turn to the 12 Days of Christmas and today I thought I would blog about the 12 gifts of support I give to my Small Business Big Magic clients. It all starts with a 1-2-1 personal induction call, generally on Skype. During this I want to know all about you and about your current or future business so that when we start working together in the group, we have something to build on. Ten live 90-minute drop-in calls each month via Webex which means you “call” in from your computer FOC. These are not webinars. […]

What’s Your Word?

Today I played a fun game with myself, remember like Teach used to let us do at the end of term at school? I ran through all my clients in both Club 100 and Small Business Big Magic and wrote down the first word which came to mind for each of them. Do you know that game Word Association Football, where you say one word and I say the first one which comes to mind with no logic and no explaining? Yeah, well it’s like that. I tried to make a word cloud out of these words but gave up. Best […]

Thinking Ahead to 2017 Already

Last week I spent some time tidying up in my business. I did the accounts for the month to date. I did the few bits and bobs of filing such as they are in these digital days. I chivvied up the one client who had yet to book herself in for November. And I thought about those few who are entitled to a 1-2-1 session during December when my online diary is offline because it is one of the two months of the year I take “off”. I thought about my clients whose time with me is ending, and about those […]

How Best to Organise Your Time

Today I am having an email correspondence with a client about how best to organise your time. She’s telling me that she’s gone from “bonkers busy to now, scarily, having a little time”. She doesn’t know what to do first. There’s loads to do and she’s started by making a list, of course, as I would. She’s losing herself in some busy admin tasks and doing paperwork as it comes in. She’s hoping that she’ll get round to sorting what needs to be done and mostly/hopefully within the timescales that need to be met. She says she always hopes she’ll […]

Stop Going Down Rabbit Holes

I’ve mentioned this in my newsletter recently, and I am indebted to Sarah who sent this in after one of our Small Business Big Magic Drop-in Calls. “I just want to say THANK YOU for stopping me from going down rabbit holes that don’t need going down. Your straight talking, no nonsense approach with tonnes of backbone behind it works so very well for me. I always come away from your SBBM calls thinking and feeling “Yes! That’s right. I know what I’m doing now”. If I didn’t have this support, goodness know which rabbit hole I’d be in now. […]

The Power of Words

I used to think my favourite thing in the whole wide world was the written word. Certainly it is right up there. I love to write, this is my fourth blog post written on the trot today, for instance. And they just rolled off my virtual pen. What I love about writing is being fully heard. People read what I write and they know what I’m thinking. In my family we don’t do that. We are talkers. We talk, we don’t listen. And we interrupt. Certainly I still have that disease, the one of interrupting, and I am training myself […]

Who’s in the SBBM Group?

Do you ever worry and wonder who’s in a business coaching group before you join, but you’ve been too polite to ask? And what if you don’t have an orthodox business and don’t really want one? What if you are unique? What if you just want some friendly encouraging virtual pals to ease the loneliness of the long distance entrepreneur or creative? Wonder no more… Here’s the current line-up in SBBM, and some vital statistics. We have 22 members right now and all but one of them are women. And that man is one very lucky chap! We have often […]

Feedback for SBBM: Angela, Linda and Michi

“I’m so grateful and appreciative of you and your support as part of this group. You’ve helped me get into a position that I never expected to be in. Your level of focus, commitment and passion is remarkable. You have a natural warmth without being fluffy (SO my kind of woman!) and you are so easy to trust and take advice from. I tend to be a ‘I know best!’ type person with a lot of my friends and co-workers so it always surprises me how naturally I take on-board things you say. I always feel supported with you at […]
