Let’s have a nice cup of tea. Yuk, no thanks. I know I miss out on so much, but I really couldn’t drink something which smells that disgusting. Same goes for beer. But my travel companion loves a nice cup of tea and none more so than the one that goes with Deal or No Deal.
And today we found a packet of Artisan Biscuits; don’t mind if I do, thanks. I’d love a Ginger & Lemon artisan biscuit and came over all Mary Berry when describing their crisp snap factor.
I love good packaging in a product and even more I love me some good marketing and this product has both. The box reminds us that “Fine bone china, fragrant tea, cucumber sandwiches and the most refined of biscuits are the essence of English afternoon tea. Elegant & English is that biscuit. Enjoy not just a taste of England, but an English experience.” Why thank you, yes, I will.
Elegant & English are sweet biscuits for grown-ups. Tell me about it. Talk salted caramel, stem ginger, dark chocolate & chilli, fig & oat – and more – to me. Say wonderful things to me.
But while I was missing out on the tea itself, I had plenty of time for perusing the box and to my wordy delight I found these two excellent quotes:
“If you are cold, tea will warm you; If you are too heated, it will cool you; If you are depressed, it will cheer you’; If you are excited, it will calm you.” William Gladstone, British Prime Minister 1809-1898
Almost makes me want to take it up (not), and…
“Tea’s proper use is to amuse the idle, and relax the studious, and dilute the full meals of those who cannot use exercise, and will not use abstinence.” Samuel Johnson, English Author 1709-1784
There! That’s told us.
