Hands Off My Favourite Word: Entrepreneur

entrepreneurtag

One of my very favourite words in the world, perhaps my No 1 all-time favourite, is ENTREPRENEUR. I love it so much I adopted it at AdoptAWord.com which helps children with communication difficulties. Their website allows you to buy merchandise with your word on it so I can see on my keyring every day that I am an ENTREPRENEUR, lest I forget, which is very, very unlikely but just in case. But, here’s the bad news. Increasingly people are bastardising my favourite word. The first culprit was Mumpreneur (yuk!), which has now been officially recognised and added to the dictionary. God. Help. [...]

What Do I Want? What Do I Really, Really Want?

One thing you discover when you are bereaved is that – unbelievably – the sun goes on rising and setting. And so it is in The Fertile Void.   Sunrise. Sunset. Sunrise. Sunset.  Day after day.   I start to get back into TV courtesy of BBC iplayer. Not a good thing.   Its all very relaxing and enjoyable but it sucks all the creativity out of me and actually I often end up resentful.   And I even got sucked into stuff I love too – 24, Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, Glee, QI, Jonathan Ross, Over the Rainbow and BGT.   Thank Goodness [...]

Fancy A “Bet” On My New Business?

I’m just launching a new business called TheMillionEntrepreneurs.com. You might have heard about it already. We intend to do three things and have recently added a fourth string to our aspirational bow: 1.   We aim to provide support and acceleration for a global tribe of 1,000,000 entrepreneurs through hooking them up with established experts across 12 business disciplines and six personal ones.   We have had a bit of a coup in that the very special Michael Neill has recently agreed to be one of our experts. 2.   We limit our membership to 1,000,000 paying members at $10 a month and up [...]

The Better Business Brigade – Abundant Business Mentoring

This is the story of a million Entrepreneurs. Of EveryEntrepreneur. They could be you. They are you and you are them. I use the word Entrepreneur to describe everyone who works for themselves, even though this isn’t the definition. It’s my word of choice to describe everyone, anyone who gets up every day and makes their own opportunities. One of my favourite Entrepreneurs is Eddie Grundy in The Archers.   Almost everything Eddie touches turns to base metal but he never – or almost never – loses heart.   Being a wide boy, a spiv, is who Eddie is.   It’s hard-wired into [...]

Today’s Entrepreneur: Ceri Wheeldon FabAfterFifty.com

Yesterday’s guest on my radio show was Ceri Wheeldon, the fast and fabulous creator of FabAfterFifty, champion for women after fifty years of age. Ceri has been self-employed for twenty years already, initially in partnership at the sharp end in headhunting in the Nineties, dealing mainly with men.   Now she’s loving meeting lots of wonderful women.   It sounds to me very much as though Ceri’s skill is with people, she sounds so enthusiastic about everything and everyone. Listen to what caused Ceri to focus on women in their fifties and do something a little bit different in her life and [...]

Mad About Bubbly, Mad About Champagne

Today, the guest on my Radio Show was Yvonne Halling, beloved client and co-conspirator in the Entrepreneurial game of life.   It only takes 15 minutes to be inspired by Today’s Entrepreneur. You can listen here to Yvonne as she talks about why this business at this time, and why she and champagne expert husband Jiles are moving back to their home in France, re-opening their B & B and taking members of their Grand Crew (geddit?) club to meet the producers, tastings and more. Yvonne is a long-time businesswoman and her career and marriage have taken her to Japan and the States [...]

Coming in 2010 – Shed Sessions for Entrepreneurs

My new garden office is finished.   Doesn’t it look lovely?   I’ve been too busy to move in yet.   First job is to move a card table and garden chair down there and take a laptop and see if the WiFi signal stretches.   If not, I need some BT help to get me fully teched up, then removal men to get me and my office physically in situ. I am going to be doing some Shed Sessions for my one-to-one clients down the garden in 2010.   Let me know if you want to spend a day a month with me in [...]
