Memoirs: Adventures in Life and Business

Often my favourite books are memoirs, especially the adventurous kind, whether that adventure be in business or in life, mainly the latter. On the podcast, Nicola suggested I write a blog post sharing my favourite ones. Here it is. [Challenges are the name of the game on the podcast right now. This week? Whistling!] Expecting Adam by Martha Beck A true story of birth, transformation and unconditional love. How Martha’s life was transformed from the moment of the conception of her extraordinary son Adam. Expect miracles. I’ve read this twice and it holds a special place in my heart. Boy, […]

Gurus: 31 Days of Abundance, Day Five

There’s been a wonderful abundance of inspirational gurus in my life, too many to mention. The three who I would try not to miss were they talking live in London are Wayne Dyer, Michael Neill & Martha Beck. Here’s why: I love to hear Dr Wayne talk, and boy can he talk! I’ve crammed into some very uncomfortable venues to hear his wisdom and streamed plenty more online. The book of his I have enjoyed most and found most useful in my life is Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting. From here I learned to go to sleep every […]

I Gotta Feeling: Pray Rain

I don’t need much of an excuse to grab a delicious notebook off the shelf and start a new journaling project, so thanks to Anne who yesterday sent me a link to a blog post by one of my faves, Martha Beck. Martha’s piece gives us another strong ticking-off about carrying too much clutter in the world. As I said to Anne, no argument from me there, I’m all over […]

Martha Beck Wants Me For A Shaman

This post was first published in June 2008 on a previous blog. I went to spend the day on Friday with wonderful Martha Beck. For those of you who don’t know her, she appears on Oprah as their life coach in residence and oddly was on Oprah on Friday when she was also live with me in St Ethelburga’s Church in Bishopsgate.  Go figure.  Martha is awesome but I don’t think even she has managed to be physically in two places at once yet!  The day was organised by the fabulous team at Alternatives and provided a lovely day out […]

Martha Beck: On Mothers and Mothering

I’m not a Mum although I have often referred to my businesses as my babies. But I know a lot of my readers are Mums (and we are all children) so I felt inspired to share something with you which I read recently in a book called Expecting Adam by Martha Beck. This is the second time I have read this book and I am pretty sure I never even noticed this passage first time round which just goes to show a couple of things.   One that it’s worth reading books you love more than once and Two that you only […]
