Five Bloggy Dreams – Andrea, Paula, Justina, Sabine and Tracy

One of my genius ideas to promote our upcoming Summit all about living a life beyond the laptop was a blog competition. As Terry Wogan would have said, five entries “flooded in”, three of them last night just an hour or two before the deadline. They are from Andrea, Paula, Justina, Sabine and Tracy and they are as diverse as you might expect from five wonderful women. Andrea Jordan has been living the laptop lifestyle for some time now and is becoming a bit of an old hand. She’s recently left her home in New Zealand to live in Mexico […]

Marmite, High Energy, Top Systems and Travelling with Kids

All of the speakers we have interviewed so far for Own It! The Summit – Beyond the Laptop Lifestyle – have inspired me in different ways, but the unique insights I got from Justin and Chaunna Brooke were about travelling the world with kids. Podcast Ep 79: Creating a Valuable R&D Team

In episode 79 of Own It! The Podcast Nicola and I debate the value of an R&D team to help you create and/or launch anything new. #OwnItSummit – Inspiration

Inspiration is coming thick and fast from the speakers we have lined up for our #OwnItSummit which is scheduled to go out on the weekend of 18th and 19th June 2016. When we hatched that plot, as regular podcast listeners will know, I had no idea that by that date I too would probably be living a life beyond the laptop. And so it is absolutely fascinating to be able to ask questions of those already doing it, those who have designed their own lives to suit themselves and those they love. Sometimes it involves travel, mostly it involves humour […]

My Dream Beyond the Laptop Lifestyle

My own dream began to take shape, in waking hours, in the summer of 2002 while I was holidaying in France. We were staying in a lovely little house across the road from the owners, two Brits who had fled from Brighton and bought a place in France, thus acquiring their own dream. I fell into discussion with them about living the dream as I was floating in their pool beneath a cherry tree in full blossom. Although I had already sold my accountancy business, I was tied to the UK for my income because I still had relationships with […]
