Don’t Fake It

keep-calm-and-don-t-fake-it-1Someone asked my opinion on Facebook this week about the concept of Fake It Till You Make It. What do I think? I’m against it, that’s what. I rage against it, in fact.

I’m known for my tell-it-like-it-is. When clients ask me for advice about the best way to do things, I only know one way. The direct route.

Honest. Authentic. Straightforward. Genuine. Real. Sincere. True. Original.

The most attractive thing to me about you is you, exactly as you are. Please don’t fake it. Why would you even consider that?

I prefer not to wear make up or die my hair. I think people in their natural glory is the real beauty. But, do you see? It’s the same thing. It’s real. I think reality is beautiful and fake is anything but.

It all comes down to knowing you are enough. In fact, more than enough, you are glorious just exactly as you are.

I am drawn to you for your youness and so are other people. If in doubt, be more you. Be open and honest and vulnerable, unique, authentic and true. That’s what we love. That’s what we want more of.

Doesn’t mean you have to be warts and all, unless you choose to be. But of those elements of yourself you do decide to share with is, don’t fake it. It sticks out a mile. It’s unattractive and off-putting and convinces nobody. Whether or not the fakers realise this, fake leaks. Fake repels. Fake fools no-one.

Be genuine. That’s what the world needs, more of you just exactly as you are. Start by loving and accepting yourself and allow the ripples to spread outwards to the rest of us, ready, willing and able to receive that and just waiting for you to share it.

Please… don’t fake it.
