Between Christmas and New Year I was idly (as opposed to purposefully) casting about for resources to help me shape my 2018. My brief included these words: I am looking for something spooky, the more woo-woo the better. Something new. Something we’ve not done before and something where I feel I have no idea what’s going on, but I trust it to do its magic; I will write some things down and let them underpin my 2018 and be amazed and delighted when they manifest, that sort of vibe! Gillian was inspired when she suggested a book by Janet Conner which, in turn, […]
With thanks to @WhatKeepsMeSane on Twitter, I read this little inspirational quote from Joan Didion which got me thinking creatively: “Was it only by dreaming or writing that I could find out what I thought?” Hmm. Well, yes, those are two ways. In fact I just woke from a dream with a brilliant idea for one of my businesses and I find this does tend to happen. The key is to take action in that very moment, which isn’t always practical. If you’ve woken to the alarm clock, for instance, at 7 a.m. and you’ve got to Get This Show […]
Until very recently, my soul came in for very little TLC from me, losing the race to other power-hungry parts of my being such as my heart, my ambition, my desires, my brain and my ego. Perhaps I even thought my heart and my soul were approximately the same thing; certainly they are close cousins. In choosing to strengthen my relationship with soul and then deliberately making it part of my mission, my life has taken off in a completely new direction, one that I have been led to as if it had been signposted by flashing neon. Reading a […]
As a Creator, I think of myself as someone who doesn’t much care for feedback. I don’t really ask other people what they think of my ideas, I just crack on. But I don’t mind telling you its been lonely and testing at times over the last 18 months while I withdrew from work and took a long, long breather. Then came the time when it was obvious I would re-emerge without really knowing how I wanted to be with my clients again. Except 100% authentically, which is always a brave and somewhat risky position to adopt and which also […]
When I first started my coaching business way back in 2004 I called it DriveDance. And people often ask me why. I was mentoring a brand consultant at the time and together we investigated the things I love, the energies I wanted to bring through my work to share with my clients. A list of those favourite things included driving and dancing and from that we created my first website. And then I realised that driving and dancing are the twin energies of coaching, the yin and the yang. Traditionally it is thought that anyone signing up for coaching will […]
I grew up in a noisy family. Whether it was just the four of us, or the house was full of people partying, one of my school friends once drew attention to the fact that we Morgans all shout at once but no-one listens to anyone. This remains the status quo; I love and accept it’s just who we are. But I tell my family that in other people’s homes it isn’t like that. There one talks and another listens and then they swap roles. This seems almost incredible to us, apparently undesirable to most but remains a deep yearning […]
Courage, mes braves! I firmly feel that more heart can only be good for our small business world and I think - despite the heartlessness all around us - that there is also plenty of evidence in support of my theory if you only but look. Perhaps you could look with your heart, always remembering that what we watch out for increases?
