The Acid Test for My Book: Your Biz Your Way

Despite having taken all my previous books (such as they were) OFF Amazon in a fit of pique a couple of years ago because the income wasn’t worth the paperwork, last weekend I re-opened my account at KDP and uploaded Your Biz Your Way for sale there too. Now I’ve almost lost count of the number of different places and ways and formats in which you can buy all of the book, read some of it or get the first chapter for FREE.  This included re-opening my Amazon Author Page. It’s not perfect, and I notice they no longer allow you to hyperlink […]

Q5: What Makes the Folly of Multiple Projects SO Seductive?

“The ‘there’s safety in numbers’ multiple-projects-on-the-go-at-any-one-time theory, despite all evidence to the contrary.” I love this. I love it especially because you tell me your own answer. “Despite all evidence to the contrary.” Quite. And you already know that playing with multiple projects simultaneously is precisely the way to prove yourself right, that it is a folly. I think it leaks. What I mean by that is if you don’t believe in your own project enough to make it your one and only (or your one and only for now) that vibe leaks and your ideal client/customer picks up on […]

Q3: Why Am I Always Compelled to Start a New Notebook?

This is Question 3 from my book Your Biz Your Way: Q3 Why am I always compelled to start a new notebook? “The ‘I’ll start a new notebook for that idea’ syndrome means I always have many, many, notebooks on the go at any one time, plus bookmarks in Pocket and in different browsers, helpful ideas and notes on my phone, books laid open where I was taking notes… the resulting visual chaos means that from time to time I simply tidy everything away and start again.” What happens when you tidy everything away? Do you lose your notes and […]

Q1: Have I Left It Too Late?

This is Question 1 from my book Your Biz Your Way: Q1 Have I left it too late? I checked with you before I answered this one. I wanted to know how old you are. And you told me that you are “45 – just starting a second career as an entrepreneur after 20 years in communications and marketing. Got to the top of the ladder and didn’t like the view!” 45. Dear God, you are a CHILD! OK, we can do this scientifically, or we can do it based on our beliefs. Or both. You are going to outlive […]

Book Report

It’s a month since I published my first “proper” book, called Your Biz Your Way. Here’s my first book report… er, my first report about the book I mean! Words, eh? I monitor CreateSpace (where you publish print versions on Amazon) pretty often because what you measure increases and sales there in month one total 36. Similarly, I monitor (and regularly ask for) reviews on both Amazon UK (13) and US (2), total 15. Digital versions sold via my own online shop at Selz total 29. So grand total book sales in Month 1 = 29+36 in month one, and […]

My Book: Your Biz Your Way

It has taken me over fifteen years working as a business mentor and coach to work out what I want to write my book about. And then it occurred to me, I’d write it about you. Your Biz Your Way is part love, part humour and part harangue.  It is also: 52 Questions (from you) and answers (from me) 65,000 words 220 pages 7+1 chapters – Bonkersness, Feelings, Financial, Marketing, Personal, Philosophy, Practical and a bonus chapter Foreword by John C. Parkin of F**k It! and after I’d edited out all the swear words too (although the F word is my […]
